After staying (a little too) far away from comics for years, Helge Reumann is now lining up books at Atrabile with remarkable regularity: Black Medicine Book in 2017, SUV in 2019, Totale Résistance in 2021, and now his new book, Kilmotor, arrives like a cannonball filled with acid.
In his books as in other mediums (paintings, installations), H. Reumann has built with great consistency a body of work of great coherence, dark, violent, but not devoid of humor, presenting a world populated by dripping creatures, rival gangs adept at fighting, mysterious gnomes and other visions of nightmares, but always executed with the greatest rigor.
Kilmotor, his new book, is a bit like the sum of his work and his universe, a comic book also sprinkled with painting and illustrations, a book crossed by crazy and striking hallucinations.
